Vice President Mahama in Prague for a Business and Investment Forum  [23/12/10]

On 9th November 2010 the Czech Republic and Ghana converged at a trade and investment forum aimed at reviving economic and business ties between the two countries, ties that date back to 1959 when Ghana, the first African country to gain independence South of the Sahara, opened diplomatic relations with the then Czechoslovakia. An initiative of Humanitas Afrika -  a civil organisation based in Prague and the Sub-Saharan department of the Czech Chamber of Commerce, the forum was organised by the Ghana embassy in Prague and attended by policy makers and business moguls from both countries. While the Ghana delegation was led by H. E Vice President John Mahama, that of the Czech Republic was led by the Prime Minister H. E. Petr Necas. The venue of this all-important forum was the Clarion Congress Hotel in Prague, the Czech Republic.More

A Ghana-born medical doctor was elected mayor of the town of Piran in south-western Slovenia in October.Peter Bossman,54, became the first mayor of African origin in Eastern Europe.More

New training course for foreigners  [22/12/10]

The course under the project "Work is open for everybody" aims at helping foreigners use their qualifications on the job market in Prague. Now, the European Contact Group is organizing the recruitment of twelve participants for the course. For more information, please click here.More

Nigeria Files Charges Against Cheney in Halliburton Bribery Scheme  [22/12/10]

The former vice president was indicted Tuesday 7 December by Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crime Commission along with eight other current and former company executives, alleging that while he was chairman and chief executive of Halliburton he played a role in a scheme to bribe Nigerian government officials so the company could obtain a lucrative contract to build a liquefied natural gas facility in the country.
