The film presents a concise overview of the events in the anti-apartheid fight - from the Defiance Campaigns of the 1950s through the releaese from prison of the African National Congress leader Nelson Mandela and the triumph of majority rule. All this set against the background of the Pan African Movement and its hopes for the newly independent African states, the rise of Black nationalism in the U.S. and the shared identity among all people of African decent.
