The book contributes to the history of FAO and gives the reader a greater understanding of the Organisation in its unsuccessful attempts to release mankind from hunger, in particular during this decade of globalisation. It supports that in order to achieve this objective, FAO should be reformed towards 2009 so that it can take further into consideration civil society’s concerns and explicitly recognize divergences in agricultural policies of Member States of the North and those of the South in order to better address the issue.
