Autor této publikace využívá zkušeností a poznatků, které sám získal. Studie popisuje veškeré kroky tohoto rituálu: pozadí, přípravy, obřad samotný i význam, který obřad jak pro dívku, která obřad podstoupí, tak také pro celou společnost. Autor se také zabývá dopady modernity na tento rituál.
The book provides a new and deep insight into an important social institution of the Ashanti; the nubility ceremonies performed for the Ashanti girl on her attainment of physiological puberty, the means by which she is introduced into the larger society around her as a full-grown woman. Although an important institution among the Ashanti, nobility rites for girls have not been given the place they deserve in ethnographic writings on this people. In the book a new light is being shed on it by a renowned writer who utilizes his own first-hand knowledge effectively, so that the general accuracy of the account is well assured. The work is an elaborate study of all aspects of the rites; the background, the preparations, the ceremonies themselves, and the significance for both the girl and her society. The author finally talks about the effects of modernity on the instructions.
