V tomto speciálním vydání jsou předmětem zkoumání národní ústavy a s tím spojená témata, které dokazují, že rozvíjející se africká ústavnost (konstitucionalita) je ústavností založenou na ochraně lidských práv a svobodě. Ve všech projednávaných ústavách je kladen důraz na demokracii a ochranu lidských práv. Potřeba kontrolovat zneužívání moci těmi, kdo vládnou, je také jedním z hlavních témat.
Mezinárodní právnická komise je nevládní organizací, která ve světě prosazuje pochopení a dodržování práva a právní ochrany lidských práv.
The national constitutions and other topics examined in this special issue bring out one point forcefully: the evolving African constitutionalism is a constitutionalism of human rights and liberty. In all the constitutions discussed, the themes of democracy and respect for human rights are emphasised prominently. The need to control the abuse of power by those in authority is also another leading theme.
The International Commission of Jurists is a non-governmental organization devoted to promoting throughout the world the understanding and observance of the Rule of Law and the legal protection of human rights.
