The study gives an overview of the food situation and africultural practices the area of West Pokot in Kenya between 1920-1995. It examines the situation over a large span of time, covering the pre-colonial, colonial and post-colonial eras, looking at what and how impacted the food situation. It considers both the local techniques of food production, governmental doigns and international measures such as aid. The study is vital to read when studying food security issues. Although it provides only a sample of a situation in one particular region, it presents a lot of worthwhile facts potentially applicable when studying different world regions.
