This is a dramatic story of two popular revolutions in one country, Ghana, both of them led by the same man, Flight Lieutenant named Jerry John Rawlings. In the first, on 4 June 1979, Rawlings came to cleanse the military of its institutionalised corruption before handing over power to a newlz elected civilian government on 24 Sept 1979. The second on 31 December 1981. This time Rawlings made it clear there would be no handing over to the professional politicians who had ruined the country and enriched themselves so often in the past. The revolution would return power to the people and rebuilt Ghana from the grassroots.
